GLASS STUDIES

SINGAPORE × BANGKOK

13–18 NOVEMBER 2026

Two Cities.

Two Glassmaking Disciplines.

One Journey.

What happens when you experience glass not just as a finished object, but as a material you can shape, stretch, blow, and build with your own hands?

Join Gurasu House for our first Glass Studies — a six-day creative experience across Singapore and Bangkok, exploring two very different approaches to working with glass.

GURASU HOUSE

A specialised flameworking studio dedicated to growing Singapore’s flameworking scene and establishing the city as a regional hub for the craft.

Glass Studies is our first extended programme. It's an attempt to take the work further — to give participants real time with the material, across two studios and two disciplines, rather than a single afternoon.

For Glass Studies, Gurasu House has developed a two-day floral flameworking intensive focused on the techniques and thought process behind translating botanical forms into glass.

BGC GLASS STUDIO

BGC Glass Studio is the first dedicated glassblowing studio, built under Bangkok Glass Group — the largest glass manufacturer in Thailand and ASEAN, with roots going back to 1974. Located in Pathum Thani, north of Bangkok, BGC runs a full working hotshop with trained instructors, a resident artist programme, and a track record of introducing glassblowing as a serious creative practice in Southeast Asia.

It's the only facility of its kind in the region. The glassblowing component of Glass Studies takes place here across two full making days.

FLAMEWORKING SINGAPORE

WHAT YOU'LL EXPLORE

FLORAL FORM & CONSTRUCTION
Learn how to break down flowers and translate them into individual glass elements before building them back into a complete glass floral.

PETAL SHAPES & CONSISTENCY
Explore different petal shapes and practise creating repeated forms with consistent size and proportion.

LEAVES
Learn to create and shape leaves to complement your floral forms.

STRINGER TECHNIQUES
Pull fine glass stringers and use them to create detailed elements, and for surface decoration.

COLOUR & FRIT APPLICATION
Explore gradient colour mixing and frit application to create your glass petals.

TEXTURE & TOOL MANIPULATION
Use tools such as tweezers to shape, texture and refine individual glass elements.

FLORAL DETAILS
Learn how to create smaller structural details including dewdrops, stamens, filaments, lips and other defining features.

FLOWER ASSEMBLY
Bring the individual elements together to construct a complete bearded iris and orchid.

THE TEACHING APPROACH
Rather than simply recreating a set design, the intensive focuses on observing, breaking down and translating botanical forms into glass, with techniques applicable beyond the flowers studied.

*The reference works shown are examples of the forms and techniques explored during the intensive. As flameworking requires practice, your finished pieces may differ from the reference works in form, proportions and level of refinement depending on your individual pace, process and experience.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPLORE

GATHERING GLASS
See up close how molten glass is collected and prepared for shaping.

BLOWING & FORMING
Experience how breath, movement and timing work together to create a hollow glass form.

SHAPING
Learn to control the shape of hot glass using movement and tools.

COLOUR APPLICATION
Explore how you can introduce and incorporate colour into the glass.

SWIRL PATTERNS
Push your skills further by creating swirling colour patterns in your second vase on your own.

By the end of the two days, you'll have made two glass vases — each marking a different stage of your introduction to glassblowing.

WHO IS GLASS STUDIES FOR?

You don't need to have worked with glass before.

Glass Studies is designed for beginners and curious makers who want to experience the world of glass more deeply.

You might already make things with your hands.

You might have taken a Gurasu House workshop before.

Or you might simply be curious about what it's like to work with glass.

What matters is that you're excited to learn.

Because over these six days, you won't just learn how to make four objects.

You'll experience two different disciplines, two different studios, and two very different ways of thinking about the same material.

COME SEE WHAT GLASS CAN DO

There is something completely different about seeing glass being made versus holding a finished piece in your hands.

It's hot. It's fluid. It's unpredictable.

And then, somehow, it becomes a vase.

Or a flower.

For six days, we'll experience that transformation from both sides — from the furnace in Bangkok to the flame in Singapore.

This is the first edition of Glass Studies.

And we'd love for you to be part of it.

Terms & Conditions — Participant Agreement

Please read these terms carefully before completing your registration.

1.  About the Programme

The Glass Studies: Singapore x Bangkok ("the Programme") is a 6-day guided craft trip jointly organised by Gurasu House Pte Ltd ("GH") and BGC Glass Industry Company Limited ("BGCI"). The Programme takes place across Singapore and Bangkok and includes a visit to a Contemporary Art Museum in Bangkok, two days of glassblowing instruction at BGC Glass Studio ("BGC") in Bangkok, and a two-day flameworking course at GH's Singapore studio. BGC serves as the workshop venue and technical training provider for all glassblowing activities conducted in Bangkok.

2.  Eligibility

Participation is open to adults aged 18 and above. Participants must be in good physical health and able to work in a heated environment — the glassblowing studio operates at sustained high temperatures. If you have any medical condition that may be affected by heat, physical exertion, or exposure to smoke and fumes, consult a physician before registering.

GH does not ask about, screen for, or assess pre-existing medical conditions and does not determine individual fitness to participate. If you have any condition that may be affected by heat, physical exertion, or fume exposure, consult your doctor before registering. The decision to participate is yours.

3.  Registration & Payment

3.1  The full programme fee of SGD 2,000 (Bank transfer) per participant is payable at the time of registration to secure a place on the Programme. Payment constitutes full acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

3.2  The following information must be submitted at the time of payment: full legal name as per passport, nationality, email address, and your mobile number

3.3 All payments are to be made via PayNow to Gurasu House Pte Ltd (UEN: 202607369D).

3.4 The Programme requires a minimum of 4 confirmed participants to proceed. Once the minimum is reached, GH will confirm the Programme and contact all participants with recommended flight and accommodation options (see Clauses 5 and 6).

3.5 Registration closes on 18th October 2026 (Sunday). If the minimum headcount of 4 confirmed participants is not reached by this date, the Programme will not proceed, and all fees paid will be refunded in full within 5 working days.

3.6 The programme fee of SGD 2,000 per participant covers:

  • Visit to a Contemporary Art Museum, Bangkok (Day 1 (13 Nov))
  • Two-day glassblowing workshop at BGC Glass Studio, Bangkok (Days 2 & 3 (14–15 Nov))

  • Bangkok transport throughout the programme as per the itinerary
  • English translator on all BGC workshop days
  • Vase packaging for travel

  • Programme perks — one time 10% off Gurasu House’s open studio hours.
  • Workshop Certificate
  • Glassblowing e-manual

The following are not included in the programme fee:

  • Flights (outbound and return) — to be arranged independently by each participant. See Clause 5.
  • Personal spending and meals not specified above
  • Excess baggage fees
  • Hotel accommodation — to be arranged independently by each participant. See Clause 6.
  • Insurance

3.7 Registration is open to a maximum of 8 participants. Places are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis and confirmed upon clearance of the programme fee. GH reserves the right to close registration once the maximum limit is reached. Submission of your interest via email holds your place for 24 hours — if payment does not clear within this window, the place will be released.

3.8 Included meals are arranged at selected food establishments along the programme itinerary. GH will make reasonable efforts to accommodate dietary requirements where options are available. Where a suitable replacement cannot be sourced at the scheduled establishment, participants are responsible for arranging and funding their own meal. No refund or credit applies for included meals not taken.

4.  Cancellation & Refund Policy

4.1  The programme fee of SGD 2,000 is non-refundable once paid.

4.2 If GH cancels the Programme, all participants will receive a full refund of amounts paid within 5 working days. GH's liability is limited to this refund and does not extend to any consequential losses, including independently purchased flights or travel arrangements made outside the programme.

4.3 GH reserves the right to cancel the Programme if the minimum of 4 confirmed participants is not met. In this event, GH will refund all fees paid in full in accordance with Clause 3.5.

5.  Flight Arrangements

5.1  Flights are not included in the programme fee and are not arranged by GH. Each participant is responsible for purchasing their own outbound and return flights. Participants should not purchase flights until GH confirms the Programme.

5.2  Once the Programme is confirmed, GH will share recommended flights for both arrival in Bangkok on Day 1 (13 Nov) and a return flight on Day 4 (16 Nov). Programme transport to and from the airport is arranged around the recommended flights, so all participants on that flight travel together. Participants are strongly encouraged to book one of the recommended options as soon as possible. Flight prices fluctuate, and seats are limited; early booking is the best protection against both.

5.3 If a recommended flight is full or unavailable at the time of booking, the participant is responsible for securing an alternative that ensures arrival in Bangkok no later than the group's scheduled arrival time for Day 1 (13 Nov). Any fare difference is the participant’s own cost.

5.4 Participants who are unable to secure a flight arriving with the group may opt to join from Day 2 (14 Nov) — provided they reach the hotel before the start of the glassblowing workshop. Any Day 1 (13 Nov) inclusions missed as a result — meals, transport, activities — are non-refundable.

5.5 Any costs arising from a participant’s personal flight choice — including fare differences, missed included meals, or transport not taken — will not be refunded or credited by GH. Participants who choose a return flight outside the group schedule on Day 4 (16 Nov) are responsible for their own transport to the airport.

5.6 If the Programme proceeds, participants must confirm their booked flight details to GH — including airline, flight number, and arrival time — by 25th October 2026 (Sunday), one week from the registration close date. Participants are solely responsible for the accuracy of their own booking and for ensuring all travel documents — passport validity and visa where applicable — are in order.

5.7 GH is not responsible for disruption, delay, or cancellation caused by the airline. Participants must check in independently and arrive at the departure airport with sufficient time.

5.8 Baggage fees and any excess charges are the participant’s responsibility.

6.  Accommodation

6.1 Accommodation is not included in the programme fee. Participants are individually responsible for booking and funding their own stay.

6.2 Gurasu House will share a shortlist of recommended hotels for participants to consider. The group will agree on one hotel by majority — this keeps accommodation costs reasonable and ensures transport can run efficiently for everyone.

6.3 Programme transport between Bangkok venues and accommodation is arranged to and from the agreed group hotel. Participants staying at the agreed hotel will travel with the group, with no additional coordination required. There will be no arranged transport in Singapore.

6.4 Participants who book alternative accommodation are responsible for arranging their own transport between their accommodation and all programme venues throughout the Bangkok portion of the programme.

6.5 Where participants wish to share a room, Gurasu House can facilitate introductions between interested participants. Room costs remain the individual responsibility of those sharing.

6.6 Do not book accommodation until programme confirmation has been received. The agreed hotel and booking details will be communicated at that point.

6.7 Accommodation booking must be confirmed by 25 October 2026.

7.  Workshop Participation & Safety

7.1  All workshop sessions — including the glassblowing sessions at BGC's Bangkok studio and the flameworking course at GH's Singapore studio — involve exposure to high heat, molten glass and open flame. The molten glass reaches temperatures exceeding 1,000°C. Participants must follow all safety instructions given by instructors at all times. Failure to comply may result in removal from the session without refund.

7.2  A detailed attire and preparation guide will be included in your welcome pack.

7.3  No food or drink is permitted inside both GH’s Singapore studio and BGC’s Bangkok studio. Loose jewellery, dangling accessories, and open-toed footwear are not permitted.

7.4  Participants must not handle tools, equipment, or molten glass without direct instruction and supervision.

7.5  GH reserves the right to exclude any participant from workshop sessions if they are considered unfit to participate safely, including if they appear to be under the influence of alcohol or any substance.

7.6 By paying the programme fee, each participant agrees to the terms of the Participant Liability Waiver, which forms part of these Terms and Conditions. Payment constitutes full acceptance of the waiver. Participation in all workshop sessions — at BGC's Bangkok studio (Days 2 and 3 (14–15 Nov)) and at GH's Singapore studio (Days 5 and 6 (17–18 Nov)) — is conditional on this agreement.

7.7 The Programme is intended as an educational and experiential workshop. Each participant’s finished work results from an individual learning process and may vary in appearance, colour, size, shape, or finish from sample pieces or promotional images. Neither GH nor BGC guarantees that every participant will produce a finished piece identical to any displayed example.

8.  Travel Insurance

8.1 Participants are strongly encouraged to purchase travel insurance before departure. A comprehensive policy typically covers emergency medical expenses and hospitalisation overseas, medical evacuation or repatriation back to Singapore, trip cancellation due to illness or unforeseen events, travel delays, and loss or theft of personal belongings — giving you meaningful financial protection for the kinds of situations most likely to affect an overseas trip.

8.2 GH is not able to verify the adequacy of any insurance policy arranged independently. Confirm coverage with your insurer directly. GH has no part in independently arranged policies and accepts no responsibility for coverage gaps.

8.3 Joining the Programme without travel insurance, or with coverage that does not extend to leisure glassblowing activities, is at the participant's own risk. GH and BGC accept no financial liability for any resulting costs — including medical expenses and emergency evacuation — that would otherwise have been covered under an appropriate policy.

9.  Health Declaration

By paying the programme fee, you confirm that you are in good health and not aware of any condition that would prevent you from safely participating in a heated workshop environment. If your health situation changes between payment and the programme start date, you are responsible for notifying GH promptly.

10.  Liability

10.1  Participation in glassblowing involves inherent risks, including exposure to extreme heat, burns, and physical injury. By registering, you acknowledge these risks and agree to participate at your own risk.

10.2  GH accepts no liability for personal injury, illness, death, loss, or damage to property sustained during the Programme, except where caused by GH's own negligence or wilful misconduct.

10.3  GH is not liable for the acts or omissions of third-party service providers engaged for the Programme — including airlines, hotels, and transport operators — where those parties operate independently of the Programme.

10.4 The two-day glassblowing workshop is conducted at BGC's studio under BGC's supervision and instruction. BGC operates in accordance with applicable Thai safety regulations, and GH has taken reasonable steps to confirm that BGC maintains appropriate safety standards. GH is not liable for BGC's or its instructors' acts or omissions during studio sessions.

10.5 Participation in any workshop session without travel insurance is entirely at the participant's own risk. Without adequate insurance coverage, neither GH nor BGC accepts financial responsibility for medical costs, emergency evacuation, or any losses that would otherwise be covered under an appropriate policy.

11.  Itinerary & Programme Changes

GH reserves the right to make reasonable amendments to the itinerary, including changes to venues, meal arrangements, transport, and timing. GH will notify participants of any itinerary changes as soon as reasonably practicable. Changes to the schedule based on ground conditions do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund.

In the event of unforeseen circumstances — including weather or venue availability — locations may be modified or substituted for an alternative activity. No refund or compensation applies for such substitutions.

12.  Photo & Video Consent

GH may document the Programme through photography and videography for use in marketing, social media, and editorial content. By registering, you consent to GH using images or footage in which you may appear, without further compensation.

If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, notify GH in writing before the Programme. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request, though we cannot guarantee complete exclusion from all documentation in a group setting.

13.  Personal Property

Participants are responsible for their own belongings throughout the Programme. GH accepts no liability for loss, theft, or damage to personal property. Participants are advised not to bring valuables — including jewellery, watches, or expensive electronics — to workshop sessions. GH accepts no responsibility for items lost or damaged in the studio environment.

Your completed glass pieces are your property. GH and the programme team will take reasonable care in packaging your vases for travel. Once you have received the pieces, any damage during transport — including checked baggage handling — is your responsibility. We recommend hand-carrying finished pieces where possible. Due to the nature of hot glass, cracking or breakage may occur despite proper handling and annealing. Neither GH nor BGCI guarantees that every piece will be successfully completed.

14.  Code of Conduct

Participants are expected to treat fellow participants, GH and programme staff, instructors, and members of the public with courtesy and respect throughout. GH reserves the right to remove a participant from the Programme for disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful conduct. GH will not issue a refund of the programme fee in such circumstances.

15.  Force Majeure

GH shall not be liable for any failure to deliver the Programme, in whole or in part, due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control — including natural disasters, government action, civil unrest, pandemics, airline disruption, or any other event rendering delivery impossible or unsafe. In such circumstances, GH will make reasonable efforts to offer an alternative date or partial refund, depending on costs already incurred.

16.  Personal Data

GH collects personal data — including your full legal name, contact details, and health information — solely to administer the Programme. GH will share your data only with service providers directly involved in programme delivery — including BGC — strictly as required for that purpose. It will not be used for any other commercial purpose or shared with any third party not involved in delivering the Programme.

17.  Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions, and the contract formed between GH and the participant, are governed by the laws of Singapore. Activities conducted in Thailand are additionally subject to applicable Thai law, including safety regulations governing the operation of glassblowing studios.

Any dispute arising from the Programme will first be referred to GH for good-faith resolution. If unresolved, disputes relating to the contract — booking, payment, cancellation — shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Singapore courts. Disputes relating solely to incidents occurring in Thailand may be subject to Thai jurisdiction where required by applicable Thai law.

18.  Contact
